INAF is the Italian National public research Institute for AstroPhysics, has the task of carrying out, promoting and enhancing scientific and technological research in the fields of astronomy and astrophysics and of enhancing its interdisciplinary applications; of disseminating and popularizing its results; of promoting and encouraging technology transfer to industry, pursuing goals of excellence at an international level."
