CNES and CMA CGM sign a cooperation agreement in the field of mobility at sea!
This agreement was built on the basis of the reflection conducted by Connect by CNES on the capabilities of space for better management of maritime mobility. CMA CGM, one of the world's leading transport and logistics companies, is directly concerned by this issue.
Under the supervision of the French Maritime Cluster, of which CNES and CMA CGM are members, the two actors quickly understood the interest of a collaboration associating space and maritime transport. The agreement is based on five themes:
- Intelligent routing
- The use of hydrogen
- Digitalization of port management
- Improvement of logistics
It is also a first milestone in the structuring of application solutions for mobility at sea, and in the implementation of dedicated infrastructures.
For the French space agency, the creation of activities based on satellite data and services, for the benefit of our companies, is a key issue. The agreement signed with CMA CGM, one of the world's leading shipping companies, is a perfect illustration of the agency's desire to export space to other countries, particularly in the mobility sector, a priority area for Connect by CNES, along with the environment and health.
